Refurbished Retail Units
We partnered with Legal and General on an exciting retail unit refurbishment project in Chineham. Our team at Gurney Consulting Engineers provided comprehensive structural and civil engineering consultancy services for this challenging endeavour.
The project's centrepiece involved lifting the existing roof to accommodate a new mezzanine floor, significantly expanding the usable space within the unit. This complex operation required careful planning and execution to ensure structural integrity throughout the process.
A key aspect of our work was preserving the building's façades while undertaking these substantial internal modifications. This approach maintained the unit's external character whilst dramatically enhancing its functionality.
Working closely with Geddes Architects, we ensured that our engineering solutions aligned seamlessly with the overall design vision. The collaborative effort resulted in a transformed retail space that blends modern interior functionality with preserved exterior aesthetics.
This project showcases our ability to tackle complex structural challenges while respecting existing architectural elements. We're proud to have contributed to the revitalisation of this retail unit, creating added value for our client, Legal and General, and enhancing the shopping experience for Chineham residents.
