Alencon House

We were thrilled to take on the challenge of transforming Alencon House, a 1960s office complex, into a vibrant residential development. Our team provided comprehensive structural consultancy services for this ambitious project, which saw the conversion of outdated office space into approximately 450 mixed housing units.

The scope of our work was extensive, encompassing not only the refurbishment of the existing sixteen-storey concrete-framed structure but also the addition of a two-storey upper extension. This vertical expansion required careful planning and precise engineering to ensure the structural integrity of the building was maintained while maximising the available space.

Working closely with our client, Berkeley Homes (Southern) Limited, we brought our expertise in structural engineering to bear on every aspect of the project. Our approach combined innovative solutions with practical considerations, allowing us to overcome the unique challenges presented by adapting a commercial building for residential use.

The success of this project showcases our ability to breathe new life into existing structures, creating modern, comfortable living spaces that meet the demands of today's housing market. By repurposing Alencon House, we've not only contributed to addressing housing needs but also demonstrated the potential for sustainable urban development through the adaptive reuse of buildings.

We're proud of the role we played in this transformation, and the project stands as a prime example of our commitment to delivering high-quality structural engineering solutions that shape the future of our built environment.
